Ecological Sanctuary, Monteverde

The most amazing place and hosts on the planet! We found it totally by accident and destiny. On the way there we saw an agouti and got to Monteverde with no place to stay. After doing the coffee tour with Chris we mentioned this. He said they had a room for rent called the agouti room. We were treated like family and felt at home. I can’t recommend this magical and inspiring place enough! Chris has extreme coffee knowledge and local knowledge. We will be returning

In any other country I would be asking why am I paying $17 for a hiking trail. Unfortunately it's the norm for Costa Rica it took us just over 1 hour to do the longest (~2km) trail and see the water fall. Some great views and saw some butterflies. The most interesting one was the Glasswing butterfly which was a bonus.

We really enjoyed our daytrip at the ecological Sanctuary. The entrance fee of 15$ a person seemed totally fine, as you are allowed to visit a second time on the next day, in case you want to enjoy another part of the trails in the future. The staff were very helpful and we managed to see some awesome wildlife. We also did a guided 2 hour nighttour here for an additional cost of 13$. The guide was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. We could experience Frogs, Firefly’s and other nocturnal Insects. Just his English could have been al little more advanced.

Absolutely loved this! We had a coffee tour (eventually even private because some people didn't show up), that we booked through AirBnB. After a tour around the garden and plantation, we had the chance to try some coffee, make or own and learn about every step. Perfect for anybody curious about coffee in Costa Rica or wanted a stroll is a lesser known sanctuary in Monteverde. 10/10 recommend!

Bad experience. The trails are not maintained, they're broken brunches on the trails, the look out is covered with rotten wood. The slides are rotten which is dangerous. Price- 20$ pp, 9$ for 5 yr old. The manager was decent enough to give us our money back when we ask. This place have a potential. Maybe it has a past. But it is not suitable to accept tourist.
