Create an itinerary including Franciscan Monastery
Sitting just a short walk from the bustle of Hvar's main square, Franciscan Monastery holds a rich collection of museum exhibits and art in a peaceful seaside setting. Browse the collection of Greek, Roman, and Venetian coins, check out the 16th-century Ptomely's Atlas, and gaze at the grand and detailed 2 x 8 m (6.5 x 26 ft) depiction of the Last Supper from the same period. In the monastery garden, a 300-year-old Cypress tree provides respite from the often-intense Adriatic sun. • Avery nice spot to stop and visit. Great view from the top. A beautiful sculpture and stages of the Calvary. I did not go inside, but would have if it were open. It was end of season.

  • Peaceful place on the waterfront, came a bit too late in the afternoon so didn't get a chance to see the garden but the monastery itself is a nice stop if you've got some spare time in Hvar
  • After visiting the fortress and wandering in the center for a couple hours, I decided to look for a place to take a break and this is the place I was looking for. The monastery is just a few minutes walk from the town center and a place to enjoy the serenity and avoid the crowd. Sitting in backyard and relaxing in the cool ocean breeze really takes the stress away.
  • This is a lovely church from the exterior - if this view pleases you, then it’s worth walking to and seeing in person. However, if you want to look inside, to see some relics, the cloister, and the painting of the last supper, then pay the 35 Kuna/person to enter. They also have a cool coin collection and a good explanation of the amphora and trade routes in the ancient world. It’s a neat church with some interesting things and the second best church in Hvar town (the best value being Saint Stephen At 10 Kuna/person).
  • The nicest museum person. Incredible 500-old cypress tree and plenty of pictures, sculptures and ancient pieces. Beautiful atmosphere. And the view.
  • very small showing at the monastery, seems a lack of funding or visitors to the place. There's a 500yr old Cypress tree in the back patio.
