Franciscan Monastery, Hvar

Peaceful place on the waterfront, came a bit too late in the afternoon so didn't get a chance to see the garden but the monastery itself is a nice stop if you've got some spare time in Hvar

After visiting the fortress and wandering in the center for a couple hours, I decided to look for a place to take a break and this is the place I was looking for. The monastery is just a few minutes walk from the town center and a place to enjoy the serenity and avoid the crowd. Sitting in backyard and relaxing in the cool ocean breeze really takes the stress away.

This is a lovely church from the exterior - if this view pleases you, then it’s worth walking to and seeing in person. However, if you want to look inside, to see some relics, the cloister, and the painting of the last supper, then pay the 35 Kuna/person to enter. They also have a cool coin collection and a good explanation of the amphora and trade routes in the ancient world. It’s a neat church with some interesting things and the second best church in Hvar town (the best value being Saint Stephen At 10 Kuna/person).

The nicest museum person. Incredible 500-old cypress tree and plenty of pictures, sculptures and ancient pieces. Beautiful atmosphere. And the view.
