Take in historic architecture and art at St. Mark's Church. Notice the roof tiles, which depict a white castle on a red background--the coats of arms of the city of Zagreb. Watch for the Romanesque window and Gothic doorway that remain from the original structure. At the southern portal, admire the Gothic sculptures, which represent the twelve apostles, Joseph and Mary with baby Jesus, and St. Mark with the lion. On the northwest wall of the church, you can see the oldest coat of arms of Zagreb from 1499. In the church interior, keep an eye out for two statues by Ivan Mestrovic, considered by many to be the most famous Croatian sculptor of the 20th century. This is a must see. The design is amazing and is the only one of its kind. The colors from the facade are mesmerizing. Even though this cathedral is not very big, it’s greatness is unmeasurable.

Despite its size, no one can deny how iconic the church is. This church in the old town Zagreb shows its signature checker patterns on its roof tiles along with the crests. It’s such as shame that the church is not open for public visiting. It would be very interesting to see the interiors of the church

This is a must see if your in Zagreb. The roof and the colours are so unique and beautiful. I have never seen any building like this before. Unfortunately you were not able to go inside and the area was fenced off. Even though we couldn’t visit the church itself I was still very happy about seeing it from the outside. The 13th-century St Mark’s Church is one of Zagreb’s most emblematic buildings. Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right. The Gothic portal, composed of 15 figures in shallow niches, was sculpted in the 14th century. The interior contains sculptures by Ivan Meštrović, though the church is open only at Mass times.

A smallish and fairly simple gothic church with a baroque tower. The church is known mostly for it's colorful tiled roof that sports two coats-of-arms. It's located between government buildings and was entirely closed off in the July of 2021. An ornate side gate decorated with a number of statues is the highlight of the entire structure. The church is not a cathedral, but one of the oldest churches in the city

One of the most beautiful churches i have ever seen. Definitely worth it for a visit.
