Create an itinerary including Kolossi Castle
The robust cubical Kolossi Castle represents a Gothic military structure of the Middle Ages, with a Luisignan coat of arms carved into its walls. Originally built around 1210, the exact edifice that you can see today was completed in 1454. Some of the 13th-century fragments are still at the site. Standing 21 m (69 ft) tall, the castle contains storerooms at the ground floor, a kitchen on the second floor, and living quarters in the upper section. At one time the complex also featured sugarcane production facilities. Look south to see a courtyard building and ruins of what's thought to have been a stable or storehouse. Make Kolossi Castle a centerpiece of your Limassol City vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Limassol City trip planner.

  • I have visited the castle many times. I usually take friends when they visit Cyprus and I never tire of seeing it. I am always amazed as to how people lived in it

  • The view from the top of the castle is fantastic and it's grounds make for a very interesting stroll. The winding staircase to the top is very thin and might not be everyone, especially anyone with balance issues or vertigo! Outside is a fantastic little cafe, beautifully kept with flowers etc. Highly recommend that too. It's very cheap entry price for the castle too.
  • Splendid Medieval castle, not a museum though. I recommend reading all info signs, because there are no exhibits in or outside the castle. There is an ancient aqueduct and ruins of a water mill and sugar plant next to the castle.
  • Nice, pleasant and quick. The biggest impression made a huge acacia in the garden with supported branches. The old castle is just ruins. Also ruins of the sugar mill was pretty interesting. In the new tower wall thickness is impressive. They had to be really scared in the past. Entrance 2,5€. Time around 30 minutes.
  • Super nice castle in the area that is worth the visit. Entrance was cheap and lots to see with tons of history. One of many along the coastline. It over watched the coast and sits high enough to see for a long time.
  • An enjoyable visit, my children were entertained (6 and 9), spent around 1 hour there. A good number of posters with information, and an interactive screen in basement. Visited on a quiet day, so space to explore and no queues. Only 2-50 per adult, free for children.
