The Cyprus Museum (also known as the Cyprus Archaeological Museum) is the oldest and largest archaeological museum in Cyprus.

The museum houses artifacts discovered during numerous excavations on the island. The museum is home to the most extensive collection of Cypriot antiquities in the world and is located on Museum Street in central Nicosia. Its history goes hand in hand with the course of modern archaeology (and the Department of Antiquities) in Cyprus. Of note is that only artefacts discovered on the island are displayed.

  • A lot to see and the best part that it is completely free of charge. It is really worthy spending an hour or two.

  • Wow if this is not a great local museum which is housing an impressive collection which will impress anyone, whether you were a fan of prehistoric artifacts Or classical antiquities. Although there is still much work that could be done with the presentation of the artifacts it is indeed an impressive collection in any person who wants to know about the history of Cyprus to check out this museum it’s free to the public has a great gift shop.
  • Small but perfectly formed. Lots of amazing statuary to wander through. Small enough to not be overwhelmed but big enough to be interesting. Quite a walk from where we parked but worth it. Restrooms and a shop/Bookshop for souvenirs. Worth a visit.
  • If you are travelling to Cyprus and are interested in the history of the island a visit to the Cyprus Museum is a must. The museum is world class. It has hundreds of artifacts, statues, pottery, coins , mosaics... that cover the entire settled history of the island. It's laid out in a logical order with the oldest Neolithic items first progressing through the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine periods. It takes about 2 hours to see everything but it's worth it.
  • The best archeology museum in Cyprus!!! They have so many interesting founds from the Bronze Age and other periods. I enjoyed it so much. Only for this museum it is worth to visit Nikosia.
  • An excellent museum with a large volume of exhibits from the past of Crete. Definitely visit if you're in the area. Additional +, entrance is free.
