Create an itinerary including Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church
Lying on the ruins of an early Byzantine basilica, the 13th-century Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church features several preserved mosaics and Saint Paul's Pillar. Outside the building you'll see various columns that once supported ancient structures and walk among the crumbling remnants of a former town. Look for the pillar where it is believed Saint Paul was whipped, labeled with a small plaque. The church offers a simple but powerful-looking exterior characterized by bare stone walls, which the interior contrasts with a gold-plated iconostasis and numerous Orthodox icons throughout. Notice the remains of the colorful mosaic on the floor. Plan to see Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church and other attractions that appeal to you using our Paphos trip itinerary tool.

  • This church is well worth a visit even if you are not religious and that would be because of the history and archaeology of the place. There is an information board outlining the history and phases...
