Create an itinerary including Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske namEsti)
Originally conceived as a medieval horse market, pedestrian-friendly Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske namEsti) is now one of modern Prague's major symbols, named in honor of Bohemia's patron saint. More a boulevard than a traditional square, this long space is part of the historical city center, a World Heritage Site. Dominated by a Neoclassical building housing the national museum of natural history, the square covers an area of about 4.5 hectares (11 acres). The square's focal point is an equestrian statue of Saint Wenceslas, a popular meeting point for both tourists and natives. A standout among the square's Art Nouveau landmarks is a hotel designed by architect Vaclav Havel, whose grandson became the first president of the Czech Republic. Our Prague trip planner makes visiting Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske namEsti) and other Prague attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • It’s a large now mainly pedestrian shopping area with many well known stores. Easy to get around. Definitely good shopping if you need it.

  • The square is very beautiful! One edge is dominated by the National Museum which is excellent! On the sidewalk, there is humble moving memorial to Jan Pallack who burned himself during the 1968...

  • Wenceslas square was very pretty and well maintained with lots of great shops and restaurants. We walked it's length many times and always found different things to do including a great railway themed restaurant that was a lot of fun!
  • A. Wry lively place during the Christmas, full of Christmas market shops and shopping centres. You will Have best view of the Narodni museum at this place.
  • Longest square in Europe is always interesting to visit. Especially I can recommend recently renowned National museum, memorial of Jan Palach who burned himself in protest about sovietic/Russian occupation in 1968, statue of Saint Wenceslas and Lucerna palace with it's interior and rooftop. In passage Světozor you can find cheap place for lunch named Peklo.
  • Its a tourist friendly area and people are helpful what I find to be honest but the negative point is public toilet isn’t working and its minimal so you should take help from the restaurants.I think government should be concern about this. Thank You.
  • Lovely square with many places to visit. The Astronomical clock is amazing and the panoramic views of the city from the clock tower was unbelievable.
