Discover the city's rich heritage by strolling along Nyhavn, a picturesque canal lined by brightly colored townhouses, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Built in the 17th century, this New Harbor (as its name roughly translates), long attracted mostly rambunctious sailors and Bohemian writers. Hans Christian Andersen, who spent most of his life in this district, resided in houses numbered 18, 20, and 67 at various times. Today, the canal area attracts mostly tourists who come here from around the world in search of traditionally prepared herring dishes and the city's famous foaming beers. Don a pair of comfortable shoes, and start your tour at house number 9, the area's oldest building, constructed in 1681. I love this part of Copenhagen. I was here many times. There are many great pubs and restaurants here. And those charming colourful buildings.

The title says it all. Boat trip from Nyhavn is interesting and gives a wider perspective of the City. Little Mermaid better appreciated on foot. Not joking about the loos, I braced myself before...

This was a beautiful place with loads of tourists as well as loads of Christmas vibes were coming from that... As there was a Christmas market as well as there was harbour to have a boat ride... With so colourful buildings.... It was a great spot to enjoy with friends and family. There were so many restaurants available over there and lots of cafes to have some snacks

Cool place with lots of colourful buildings - but as with all popular places there are a lot of tourists. You can see the buildings and then just go somewhere else to eat where it’s quieter if you’re not wanting to see hoards of tourists.

Cute are with lots of restaurants. Nice area to walk and look at the boats in the canal. Near a main street for shops as well. It is one of the most photographed streets in Copenhagen, I have been told.

Beautiful colorful buildings by the canal. Perfect spots for photography. Restaurants and cafe there are too touristy. You may hop onto your boat cruise from here.

This area was one of the places I wanted to see in Copenhagen. It's apparently the most photographed and instagrammed place in the city, and although it is beautiful, I was also a bit underwhelmed. The bars and waterside cafes were all full, but had typical inflated tourist area prices, more than anywhere else in the city. And that was basically all there was....a canal, pretty boats and buildings, and expensive cafes. I stopped for a coffee and to take a few photos but even with stopping for the drink, the visit only took me 20 minutes. Maybe I was expecting too much before I went. I'm glad I went, but it isn't somewhere that I'll rush back to next time I'm in Copenhagen.
