Create an itinerary including Kicker Rock
A popular dive site off of San Cristobal Island, Kicker Rock showcases a wealth of diverse and colorful marine life. The two rocks, which were once connected, reflect what’s left of a lava cone jutting 140 m (459 ft) out of the water. To visit the landmarks, you must travel with a certified guide, so reserve a boat tour or diving trip. If you approach from the south, you might notice the rock formations' resemblance to a sleeping lion, hence the Spanish name "leon dormido." The two rocks join together 19 m (62 ft) below the surface, forming a narrow channel that small boats can pass through. Don your snorkelling gear to see what’s swimming beneath the surface, namely tropical fish, hammerhead sharks, green turtles, and the Galapagos shark. • Was part of a 360 tour. This was our last stop for the day. Weather, boat, etc were all good. Snorkeling at Kicker was good. It is the luck of the day really... we did see lots of Turtles and fish.

  • We spent a wonderful morning going there (45 min) snorkeled for a solid hour and saw everything! Many hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, sea turtles, various rays and fishes. Blue footed boobies...

  • Great diving site, a must place in the Galapagos
  • Lots of fish, sharks, sea turtles, and sea lions and coral
  • I went on April in full moon for a dive. It was not fun at all. There was no visibility at all (3 meters max), vertical currents pushing you 3 meters up and down, and we didn't see a single shark. However, visibility might change everyday, full moon considered bad time, and it's out of hammerhead season, so it just might be amazing as well. Be prepared for the other possibility, and if so don't go diving because it's not fun, just do snorkeling from the aboy. However the rock is very impressive for itself.
  • Part of the 360 tour we did with Galapagos Eco Challenger. Did our first snorkel there and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. We swam with sea lions, green marine turtles, Galapagos sharks.
  • This is a must. I went on a windy, dark, rainy day and I thought it would be horrible, it even felt scary, but it was the total opposite. The weather gave the place an entirely different feeling. The water had a unique shade of blue, it was very warm and when we got in, everything was crystal clear. You could see a lot of animals including hammerheads. So, no matter the weather conditions, you’ll enjoy it.
