Reminiscent of some of Europe's finest cathedrals, Basilica del Voto Nacional stands as one of the city's most prominent landmarks. This imposing Neo-Gothic church boasts dual towers climbing to a height of 115 m (377 ft). Though begun in 1892, the church did not receive consecration until 1988, and technically remains unfinished. Enter the historical building to marvel at its cavernous sanctuary, wandering through the aisles to take in the bronze images, stained glass windows, and other decorations. Try steeling yourself to climb up the towers' internal staircase--you'll be rewarded with both a lofty vantage point to the church's interior and a sweeping view of the surrounding historical city on the outside. Don't miss the church's defining feature: instead of traditional gargoyles, it's decked with carvings of sharks, penguins, iguanas, monkeys, and other native species. A truly beautiful basilica. I love the gothic architecture. The stained glass windows are gorgeous and the gargoyles are unique animals. Highly recommend paying the $2/person to go in! We did not pay the additional $4/person to climb to the top of it but I bet it has a great view of Quito!

The Basilica is absolutely beautiful! Unless mass is taking place, the facility is open for a mere $2 fee per person, which is worth the price. . You can take the steps up to the top of the towers for a great view of the city. Each nook is different and interesting. The chapel behind the main area is especially beautiful.
-
A massive and beautiful church. You can climb the tower stairs and at the top, enjoy magnificent views of the city. The tower cost $5 per person and the church itself is another $2. A bit expensive.

This place is incredible. The architecture is amazing. The cathedral is beautiful and you can actually climb the spires for a fantastic view of Quito.

Very pretty! Be sure to purchase a ticket inside. You can grab a beer up top and walk around the inside. You’ll see some gorgeous stained glass and get to walk across the inside of the roof to get between tours. Highly recommend! I really enjoyed my visit!
