Dedicated to the art of Oswaldo Guayasamin, Casa Museo Guayasamin displays powerful, politically charged works. The paintings take you through the struggles of Ecuador and its peoples in recent history. Take a tour of the museum to get extra details about the many pieces by the artist. Consider combining this with a visit to the artist's expansive house next door, where you can see Guayasamin's personal art collection. Casa Museo Guayasamin reviews
The tour was excellent. A lovely location and great to learn about such a great man and artist. The guide was very informative. I loved seeing the art all around his house.

Most famous artist from Ecuador. The museum has his house and his foundation. Most of his large art pieces are displayed in the latter. The location is not in the city center so it’s better to take a taxi or Uber. Entry fee is $10 per person. There is a tour of the house first (English) and then you are free to tour the rest of the museum. Worth a look if you are curious about him.
Very informative. Worth the visit if you are into art. You can tour the art museum and Guayasamin's house and personal art collection. Take the tour the tour guides know their facts.
Impressive monument to human suffering, a temple for men rather than for gods, according to one of our inspring guides. The top floor of the temple features a collection of huge and gruesome pieces, quite depressing. The lower floor has an awesome collection of faces, in different color schemes, with quite distinct emotions: from cruelly violent to lovingly tender. The artists house is a gem, both it's construction as the decoration with ancient pre Colombian art and Catholic relics and many paintings from the artist's private collection. There's an amazing video on the painting of a portrait of Paco de Lucia. Plus that painting too. All in all the whole museum is an hommage to the peoples of Latin America, it reminds of their pain and of our duty to promote justice.
Educational, interesting and well thought-out museum art space. The guided tours were all excellent and gave lots of background behind the artist, the three different exhibitions he did, and the art work themselves. The house tour was a highlight.
This was a real great experience. Happy to learn about one of Ecuador’s most influential artists. A real treat. Cost to enter is $8/adult in August of 2018. Close enough to the botanical gardens to walk there on foot. If you’re an art lover this is a must see.
