Lotus Papyrus, Luxor

This is the place to go if you want to buy a good quality papyrus painting. The owner is a very friendly and kind person who is really passionate about his work. We enjoyed spending time in his beautiful art shop.

You have to stop here when in Luxor. An amazing shop and the kindest artist. He explained his work for us and his prices are reasonable. I also realised that other shops actually charge 8 times the price and the discount ends up being 4 times the price which they share with the tour guides who take their clients there. In this shop, there is only kindness. Thank you, sir.

DO NOT come here with a guide, carriage or local taxi (unless careem). Come back alone or send the taxi away. They charge him very unreasonable commission, and in the end the artist Mohsen makes no money at all for himself! This is the real Lotus Papyrus. Artist of 50 years, kindest man you will ever meet. All authentic papyrus art, hand painted. Extremely reasonable price!

The shop owner Mohsen is terrific. He rescued us from Egyptians trying to claim they brought us to the store when I used my gpa to find it. All they did was point across the street. The work is great and the prices are wonderful. Mohsen is honest to a fault and the price is based on size. He talked about how people cut quality, sell Inferior products and how street people take a cut of his work. By the end instead of the two pieces, we brought 6 (gifts for family)(prices was good too). Please find his shop and go inside, it’s well worth it. This is the same review I have posted other places, mainly bc I do think he deserves the support.
