Create an itinerary including Medinet Habu
Stand in awe of the architecture and artistry of Medinet Habu, the well-preserved mortuary temple of Ramesses III and part of the Theban Necropolis World Heritage Site. As you walk through the temple, dedicated to the pharaoh and the local god Amun, notice the inscribed reliefs that celebrate Ramesses III defeating the Sea Peoples during his reign, and other remarkably well-intact hieroglyphs. The scale of the temple complex complements the surrounding mountainous scenery, and the relative lack of visitors to the site allows the imagination to run a little wilder than at various other Ancient Egyptian attractions. See Medinet Habu and all Luxor has to offer by arranging your trip with our Luxor trip itinerary builder tool.

  • There is a lot of conservation work in progress. Will probably be of more interest with more areas accessible when this work is complete. On the positive side it’s not on the mainstream tourist trail....  more

  • Huge temple complex. Wheel chair access to most important places. Be aware that local men will offer to take a picture of you next to a statue.. etc, but afterwards wants a tip. This was an experience all over and at every historic site. Best to smile and say no thanks.
  • A wonderful ancient Egyptian temple with many hieroglyphics and the story of the battle with the sea peoples. It's well preserved and even has some original colors on the walls.
  • Stunning colour preservation on the underside of the gateways and some pillars. Location is close to the valley of the king's and it's the only temple with the kings palace remains next to it. Also great because it's not as busy as the other temples and just as stunning. Great for picture taking and a chill out
  • You ll have a blast here. Really enjoyed this place as it is one of the most beautiful and interesting temples I visited. The construction, the levels, the areas of the temple, the colors. Its crazy that the colors are still visible after all this time and subjected to the outside conditions! Don't miss this temple if you re into temples. It's one of the "must do". If you have a guide it will help the experience as there is a lot to know, learn and understand from these temples.
  • Best preserve temple by Egypt. Spent about 30 minutes. A good tour guide will make the visit very interesting.
