Create an itinerary including Temple of Karnak
Within a city of towering obelisks, sanctuaries, and squares, Temple of Karnak is part of World Heritage-listed ancient ruins, once probably one of the largest religious sites ever built. Designed to be the earthly home of local divinities, the temple complex was constructed over a period of 1,500 years and was dedicated to the Theban triad, three Egyptian gods most worshipped in the region. Though the colors on the carved artworks have long since faded and the squares are now populated by tourists from around the world, the complex still maintains that ageless charm. Its scale, in terms of the height of its towers and the way it spreads out across the land, remains gigantic by any standards--it's easy to understand why the locals believed their gods resided here. • Definitely should be on your bucket list. Go early, you will have about 30 mines window before big tour bus show up. Sunrise are Karnak is amazing.
  • This temple is amazing, but VERY busy. We got extremely lucky because our tour guide was a professor of Egyptology so we got a better tour than most, and he gave us a proper education on the topic, and even translated hieroglyphs. Luxor is utterly amazing. we will be going back for a 2 week trek across many more sites as we've only seen the tip of the iceberg
  • A wonderful place full of rich history. Definitely do your research on basic Egyptian history or get a guide before coming here, the sheer amount of information written on the walls of the temple speak volumes of the pharaohs that ruled long before our time.
  • Incredible to see the architecture achieved 4000 years ago. If you manage to go in the evening please do, the light and sound show (in English - with headphone translations into many languages) is spectacular!
  • What a beautiful temple ❤️ I’m sad that my tour only allowed for 25min of free time at the temple, I would love like 1h. It is really awesome temple, very beautiful with amazing columns. There is a very well preserved statue of Ramses II. Then there is a 3km path with sphinxes, I don’t know if you can walk the whole way, but I would love to do it.
