Create an itinerary including Valley of the Queens
Nestled between the western cliffs in a ravine shaped like a Y, Valley of the Queens features over 90 tombs carved out of rock of the wives and children of the pharaohs from 1550-1070 BCE. It has been speculated that this location was chosen because of a sacred grotto at its entrance dedicated to the ancient Egyptian goddess of love, joy, and motherhood. Even though many tombs were ransacked during antiquity, some of them preserve their lavish decorations up to this day. The most prominent example is Queen Nefertari's tomb, which is closed for visitors due to the fragile state of its polychrome reliefs. Reportedly some of the guided tours can acquire a special visiting permit for a considerable fee. • Beautiful valley but you can imagine how hard it must have been to work in this setting. Tombs are gorgeous but not many were open. Still worth the trip though!

  • As a part of out Nile cruise tour we visited this site and found it almost deserted. Much smaller than the Valley of the Kings. The most visited is Queen Nefertari tomb, the most famous in the area...

  • If you intend on spending a couple of days in and around Luxor temple gazing or tomb raiding including visiting Nefertari's tomb in the Valley of the Queens then perhaps you should consider buying...

  • I visited the Valley of the Kings before hand and must say that I was a bit underwhelmed by the Valley of the Queens. The tombs are well preserved but definitely not as sumptuously decorated, saved for Queen Nefertiti's of course. It is as gorgeous as they say, but I was really disappointed by the 10 minutes limit. The paintings are incredibly well preserved, so it makes sense to do everything in their power to continue preserve them, but it would have been nice to be told at the front desk and not simply find out from a sign on the outside of the tomb.
  • Spectacular! A must see. The tombs are highly detailed and extremely well preserved. The corridors are wide, tall and well lit. They are fairly easily negotiated.
  • Highly recommend you take some time at this location. It has some of the most preserved reliefs I've seen and it is less busy than the Valley of the Kings. Don't let the name fool you, there are also princes in the valley, including a tomb for a fetus that died in childbirth.
  • Nefertiti’s temple is worth the additional ticket cost. It was gorgeous and well preserved. The ticket is 1500 Egyptian per person. No discounts for children or students. There are not as many open tombs here as the valley of the kings so you won’t take as long. Also it doesn’t seem to be as busy as the valley of the kings.
  • Great valley to visit. Cheaper than valley of kings, only 100 Egyptian pounds. Nefertari tomb is the best one but it is very expensive 1400+ Egyptian pounds. You can see the valley in 1h. It has less tombs than valley of kings and you don't have too choose any tombs unless it is the extra cost one. Definitely worth to visit.
