Create an itinerary including Memphis and Sakkara
Memphis and Sakkara boasts ancient sculptures and funerary monuments. Compared to the Giza pyramids, this is a small and isolated site best seen with a guide who can provide historical context and information on numerous artifacts. Highlights include a colossal statue of a pharaoh, an alabaster Sphinx--less known than its famous counterpart in Giza--and a step pyramid, a smaller predecessor of Giza's pyramids. • Meemphi City was the capital of ancient Egypt. It is an open museum lined with stores selling all kinds of souvenirs. As it is near the Step Pyramid, do go for a visit.

  • Most interesting of all pyramids we saw in Cairo. Definitely worth visiting and going inside. Interior is beautiful and colourful and well preserved. Hidden gem. We were surprised it wasn’t as popular as Giza pyramids even though I would only recommend to see this one out of all.
  • So glad our tour visited here before the more famous Giza pyramids. This being the first pyramid built it helped explain the timeline better. Plus the step by Imhotep was really impressive for a first attempt. There are other pyramids on site that you can enter. I'm a tall and large chap and manager to bend and make my way in and out. Always look up in tombs and pyramids...this one had stars for the Goddess Nut. Highly recommended
  • Amazing experience - get there early so you can go inside the tombs, take your time, and enjoy it without the rush of crowds. Lots of walking and a LOT stairs if you decide to go inside some of the tombs. There's a good number of people selling souvenirs, camels available for pictures, and such. Going with a guide is a must.
  • If you want to live the adventure and ride a time capsule to the ancient Egyptian era, this place is the best location for you. Although the area is not famous like giza pyramids but you will have a very beautiful site scene full of stories and monuments. It's highly regarded to have a tour guide to take u around and explore the different eras inside.
  • Absolutely stunning! There are many walking paths, many tombs to enter and view. Come with a tour guide, this MUST! (Your guide will get you transport and entrance tickets, plus protection from scammers)
