A symbol of Estonia's former Tsarist rulers, Aleksander Nevski Katedraali survived demolition and the state atheism of the Soviet Union and has since been restored to its turn-of-the-century glory. Visit the cathedral, finished in 1900, and seek out multiple cupolas built in classical onion-dome style. You can enter and explore the church's interior, complete with a series of mosaics, heavily decorated icons, stained-glass windows, and domed ceilings. Be sure to listen for the 11 huge bells hung in the cathedral towers, which you can hear ringing throughout much of Tallinn during the day. Very nice interior and a working church. Many people worshiping when I was there. No photography allowed.

I recently visited the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Estonia and was thoroughly impressed with the beauty and grandeur of the architecture. The exterior of the cathedral is adorned with intricate details and ornate decorations, and the interior is equally stunning with its lavish frescoes and intricate mosaics. I was also struck by the peaceful atmosphere of the cathedral, which provided a welcome respite from the bustling city outside. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and they made sure to answer any questions I had about the history and significance of the cathedral. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to anyone traveling to Estonia. It is a true gem of Tallinn and a must-see attraction for anyone interested in the history and culture of the region.

The inside of this cathedral may not be super special but the outside is quite spectacular. It looks different that basically all of the other cathedrals that you are used to seeing in Europe. Unfortunately it is also really hard to get a good picture with the cathedral because it is already situated at the highest point in old town.

Spectacular cathedral from the outside. The golden mosaics are beautiful when the sun hits them at the right time of day - we visited it a few times and it was always the most beautiful on a sunny afternoon. No pictures inside, even though many don’t respect this rule.
-
The most beautiful church in Tallinn. Russian church, very calming and peaceful inside. There are dedicated prayer areas. There are 2 large souvenir shops inside as well. Definitely worth checking out.

What an amazing architecture. Russian design. Now that it is not possible to go to Russia, this is the next best thing to seeing the churches in Russia. Photography not allowed in church. You can buy russian dolls from the church shop along with many other religion related items
