Create an itinerary including KGB Museum
Housed in a hotel that was once a hot spot for foreign visitors, KGB Museum presents a stark reminder of the secret police network that operated in the Soviet Union. Owned and operated by foreigners, the Hotel Viru became a target of KGB monitoring. Take a guided tour (offered several times daily in English) to see the KGB's secret operating room, which has been more or less untouched since the Soviet collapse in 1991. You'll see the workstations operatives used to spy on the hotel's guests, which connected to an extensive system of electronics wired into the building. This museum is accessible only by organized tour. Reservations are required; be sure to call in advance to arrange your visit. • This is a very unusual and extremely interesting museum. When you enter it, it really feels like time travel. Sokos is the former Soviet Intourist Hotel, where the last 23rd floor was occupied by KGB....  more

  • Label made this tour incredible- what a funny witty character and one of the best tour guides you can have. Incredible story of the missing floor where the KGB was stationed. Absolutely recommend this tour- one of the best in Tallinn. It does sell out so book in advance.
  • A very interesting place to see. Our tour guide Pavel (if it's his real name, he wouldn't tell) was genius. He was funny and very informative, he had great stories and a lot of interesting information. Also the view is absolutely stunning. But be aware tours fill up quickly so book in advance.
  • If you like a little bit of recent history, a visit to the KGB museum tells how it was with the USSR's intelligence service monitoring visitors to Estonia. Listening devices hidden in plates and ash trays is the stuff of Sean Connery era James Bond films. If you like those, you will like this. A visit to the infamous 23rd floor. Well worth an hour of your time and €13. Good view over the old town from there too.
  • I liked it, and there were some great stories, but expected more. Would be better if the displays were better organised. Also, I was hoping for a gift ship to buy something to remember my visit, but none exists.
  • Perfect place to visit. Important history lesson and great guide with interesting stories. Bonus is view from top to Tallinn. Recommend to go at 16:00 to see sunset and dark scenary.
