The country's last virgin mountain wilderness, Malolotja Nature Reserve features landscapes of temperate forests, short grasslands, towering cliff faces, and thick riperan scrubs. Established in the early 1970s by the late Swazi king, Sobhuza II, the reserve covers 18,000 hectares (44,479 acres) of land and boasts 17 backpacking camps and 200 km (124 mi) of hiking trails. The most exciting way to explore the reserve is to glide across the forest through the canopy of trees. Apart from the scenery, you will get to see wildlife, including some endangered bird species, such as bald ibis. Don't miss the Swaziland's highest waterfall formed by the river that winds its way through the Highveld before it tumbles down into a series of waterfalls. Put Malolotja Nature Reserve at the forefront of your travel plans using our Ngwenya trip itinerary planner.
