Since it was established in 1889, Korkeasaaren Elaintarha has attracted tourists and animal lovers for more than a century. The zoo's rocky island location attracts as much awe as the animals here; in fact, the island was a national park and used for fishing in 1569 until the establishment of the zoo in the 19th century. Discover this quiet spot removed from the city center where you can view over 150 animal species and 1,000 types of plants. Walk through the site's popular cat valley and get to know the exotic creatures at one of Europe's oldest zoos. • Unprofessional welcome by the zoo personnel. We had a kite with us and I was told that we cannot use it inside. This is perfectly understandable as we anyway did only want to use it on the windy...

  • Amazing zoo on an island. Couldn’t came in summer but autumn is good time to visit too. All the felines were very active. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the bear. It was quite extensive, took like 2-3 hours and could take more time. Definitely a must if you visit Helsinki. 😎👍🏽
  • Quite a large zoo, plenty of animals to see. They also have feeding shows for the lions and tigers though, we couldn’t see some of it because of the large crowds. Other than petting the goats and seeing the cool animals, the small island is a really nice nature walk. It’s good for taking family or kids out.
  • Don't let my photos fool you - this is a wonderful zoo! They're keen to show their conservation efforts, and there are lots of animals you wouldn't expect. Will definitely go again when it's warmer to see the bears!
  • Very nice place with a lot of potentials.. actually a small island is a zoo... unfortunately I went during winter with temperature -12 so I didn't manage to see everything but I think the rest of the year it should be amazing...I put 4 stars because I would expected to be a bit more proactive for winter visitors
  • Zoo is very big to many different animals. The proplem in winter animals usually sleeping and they don't go outside at all I spend 3h from 12.00 -15.00 and I don't see all animals . It was sad my first time . Best time to visit zoo in summer I recommend 👌🏻
