Recognizable by a moose statue that marks the entrance, Natural History Museum offers insight into Finland's natural wonders. You'll encounter a stuffed African elephant and a bone exhibit on the first floor, displayed next to fossilized prehistoric animals and minerals. Nature exhibits specific to Finland are housed on the upper floors. The building itself was constructed in the early 20th century and once housed a school for Russian youth. Don't worry about purchasing tickets in advance; there are rarely lines at the entrance. Visited with a curious 4-year-old. Stuff you could touch combined with the stuff you can only look, was nicely balanced for us. I think the stuffed animals and their scenes were in good condition...

The museum mostly shows stuffed/ conservated animals. The animals are nicely prepared and the museum tries to show them in their natural habitat and in their natural environment. The visit in total...

This is a great museum! If you are interested in animals and the natural world, then it is a treasure-trove of delights. The huge number of skeletons, all placed so you can see the homologies, are a delight. The international dioramas are surprisingly dramatic. The Finnish nature section was wonderful, I loved looking at all the birds close-up.

One of the best museums in Helsinki. Every exhibit has a unique detail that makes it beautiful. You need at least one hour to see everything. They offer reduced ticket for students at 8€. I love it

The museum is set around the natural history for the area of Helsinki, and Finland in general. Most of the displays are either stuffed animals or plastic/wood replicas. The museum is mostly not interactive, with both regular and changing exhibitions. Also, the place has no AC, and when there are more than a few people in each space ot gets hot and dense quickly. Lastly, as a non-Finnish or Swedish speaker, many of the displays had no English inceptions.

Big skelly. And another. And a smaller one. As a fan of natural science museums, I definitely love the Helsinki one too. The special thing about this one that it’s absolutely one of the most visually great looking and stylish ones I have seen! Might be 4 out of 5 because it’s a bit small and I like to spend an entire day with my prehistoric fellows, but the visual beauty of the exposition and the whole building compensates so much. Plus the fact that they have an awesome looking mammoth replica. Spotted also: actual art on the wall! Got a dinosaur keyring. Please do add some more dino stuff (also for adults!) to the souvenir shop🤩

Really nice natural history museum. Really liked the action scenes with the taxidermy animals. Those were a lot more enticing than the static displays in some other museums. Also, nice that they still have the two headed calf and the Japanese spider crab that I remember from my childhood visits.
