  • 10/10 recommend a visit and also purchase a ticket to enter the houses and everything. It's been terribly fascinating to see all the houses and to see how people back then lived like. There are also many very kind and friendly people who have answers to pretty much everything you could ask about the houses and everything connected to them. On top of that, the whole area is just absolutely peaceful and perfect to sit around and enjoy nature with a little drink and snacks. This was certainly one of my favorite places during my visit in Helsinki.
  • This is a great open air museum. The exhibitions and buildings are really good but the people who are working there are awesome. Ask them a few questions and you will hear great stories. Really worth the trip and the tiny beds made me laugh a lot
  • Make sure you ask how many buildings are open and how many rooms in those buildings are open! Right now it’s mostly closed, but they were really nice about giving me a refund when I realized how limited the exhibits were. Most of it is visible from the outside and it’s free to walk around. I highly recommend a visit to the island, and the bottomless salmon soup and buttered bread at the cafe!
  • Wonderfully unique open-air museum on its own island, exhibiting perfectly preserved and reconstructed Finnish buildings from the past 300 or so years. The surroundings are beautiful and the way the museum is laid out is excellent, with a new building popping into sight through the trees at regular intervals as you walk. On certain days the interiors are open to view too, along with knowledgeable tour guides dressed in period costume ready to supplement your viewing with context and stories. This really should be high on your list to visit in Helsinki on a non-rainy day - for €10 it really is a no-brainer way of spending a morning or afternoon. PS. There are two eateries on site too - a restaurant cafe and a cafe - both with lovely offerings!
  • One of the best things we have done in Helsinki! It was a great presentation of traditional Finish houses and on top of that, the island is absolutely beautiful. Worth a visit!
