Tietomaa is a science centre in Oulu, Finland. It is located in Myllytulli district near the city centre. It is the first science centre in Finland and it was opened to the public on 29 June 1988.
Tietomaa is located in old buildings of the Veljekset Åström Oy, a former leather processing factory. The main exhibitions are located in the former power station. Tietomaa's 45-metre (148 ft) observation tower with a glass elevator outside the tower is a former water tower of the factory. Tietomaa also features a giant movie theatre, which at its opening was the first-ever purpose-built IMAX theatre in Finland and in the Nordic Countries. The IMAX system was replaced with a Barco 4K system in 2013.

It's a nice interactive museum with exhibitions about physics, life in Finland, games, etc. There are simulators, optical illusions and there's a 3D cinema.

Highly recommended place to visit for families. In Tietomaa there is interesting things for all age groups and most of those all also very educational. It is easy to spend whole day in this place.

A bit like Heureka in Helsinki. But its a lot smaller and is more oriented for smaller children and families. It was quite cheap though: for students with a student card or certificate, you will get two tickets for the price of one. It was quite interesting and there is a tower you can climb that has awesome views to Oulu. I recommend this place for families with smaller children. It will take around 2 hours to go around it.

A great place to explore some inventions, find out how the things come into our lives. Also, there is a glass lift to enjoy Oulu town from above. On the last floor are games toys and other funny things to play with children or challenge each other.

An interactive science museum in downtown Oulu. There are dozens of experiments and hands-on exhibits. It's great for kids, but older ones will have fun too. A special highlight is the museum's own 3D cinema with hourly screenings and a high tower from which you can look out over the city. The entrance fee is comparatively expensive, but you get a lot of different things for it.

Nice little cafe, some captivating exibits. My favorite was the kinetic sand box with a realtime projected topographic map. Awesome application of machine vision and image generation.
