Create an itinerary including Old Rauma
Named a World Heritage Site because of its traditional Nordic architecture, Old Rauma features some 600 buildings, from humble sheds to homes and churches, all made of wood. Along the town's narrow, winding roads you'll see buildings that date back to the 17th century, some of them housing shops and businesses, others belonging to families. Visit the homes of seamen (and women) that have become museums. You can peer into 200 wooden shops and see a 15th-century church adorned with vibrant medieval paintings. The site encompasses 29 hectares (72 acres), so wear good walking shoes to cover lots of ground. To visit Old Rauma and other attractions in Rauma, use our Rauma trip itinerary maker site.

  • A must for anybody interested in architecture. I also recommend the The Church of the Holy Cross near the Old Rauma center.

  • Rauma is a charming little city from the 17th century. The streets with wooden houses with unique architecture are still a center of attraction and are on the UNESCO world heritage list. According to a rumor, this lady I'm sitting next to was planted here every day waiting for her boyfriend, and eventually identified with this place and her statue was made. Just kidding, I wish you a happy Sunday,
  • Today is shiny so it is warm to walk along Rauma is famous for lace design and wooden houses! Highly recommend to visit!
  • fantastic historical old township. Very nice picturesque houses, Lots of Cafés and handcraft shops and ateliers & museums durrounded by green and a little river.
  • If you love Porvoo, then you will definitely fall in much love with old Rauma. There are beautiful streets to walk along. Open air markets are common. Animal friendly and controlled vehicle movement within the city is an additional advantage.
  • Beautiful old town. Really a place to be in Finland. Love it
