is a historic castle situated in the city of Angers, Loire Valley, in the department of Maine-et-Loire. This place has a rich history, and you will greatly appreciate this castle, which was built in the 9th century, for its unique structural design. Further construction in the thirteenth century added to the size of this castle. The castle served as a fortress because of its strategic location, overlooking the River Maine. Tourists coming to the castle can view the interiors that are tastefully decorated. Parisian tapestry belonging to ancient ages adorns the castle. The chapel inside the castle is also worth a visit. • We spent a pleasant few hours here taking in the history of the chateau itself and the tapestry. We had been here many years ago but there were new things to see. Nice lunch here too.
  • Interesting smaller castle with gardens. The highlight are monumental wall carpets in a special exhibit. We'll worth a visit.
  • Located in the middle of Angers city with surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and bars. You can see the river and the the city of angers from the top, super !! The facilities were good, renovated but keep the historical impression. You should visit this castle during a holiday in Angers city 😉
  • This was a fantastic surprise! Chosen because it looked “medieval” like a castle, turns out this was once ‘that’ castle with moat, drawbridge and towers to the Anjou counts a- very rich property- and home to several French king dynasties- so remodeled several times now has a garden inside the castle walls- also a super cute restaurant on the premises, the enclosure that holds the biggest tapestry I’ve ever seen… the Apocalypse Tapestry, vibrant colors a masterpiece- what more can you ask for? Oh: a modest admission fee! And the old town of Angers where it is located has a very cute older area complete with tourist train ride! Woohoo come and visit!
  • Definitely worth a visit. Big castle, the tallest tower is 40 m high. Normally you can climb it, but it's being renovated now. You can also climb up and walk among the ramparts, with excellent views of the city and the surrounding landscape. The castle also houses Le Tapisserie de l'Apocalyps, a set of tapestries depicting the story from the Book of Revelations. In total about 100 m long and 4.5 m high. The gardens both inside and outside the castle are beautiful.
