Built in the 9th century, Bonifacio Citadel is located on a sandstone promontory overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Today, it is more like a museum or a mini village packed with sun-bleached ramshackle houses. Walk the narrow passages to view artisans forging knives and carving wooden goods, and jewelers offering fashions made with the remarkably deep red coral indigenous to the area. Many restaurants, shops, and cafés line the walkways with outdoor seating areas overlooking the Mediterranean. Stroll the maze of alleyways with decorations and designs that go back to medieval times complete with a historical marine cemetery. Put Bonifacio Citadel on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Bonifacio trip planner.

Nice view as we arrived with the ferry from Italy. Unfortunately you have to park at the harbour down the hill. There is no way to get to the castle with a baby and his buggy, that was a pity.
-
The view is worth your time. I’ll be there again at sundown
-
Cute definitely worth a visit
-
Beautiful combination of Akko and Dubrovnik, with an unique medieval touch. Definitively worth the hike up!
-
A must in Corsica You will discover there full of small lanes with tradesmen and restaurants and others. The view from the citadel is magnificent Obviously impossible to miss the train of sand. Without forgetting either the famous stairs in the rock Parking is unfortunately not cheap and even if there are many, count 4 euros per hour near the center and no free parking for disabled people!
