Create an itinerary including Tour Pey-Berland
Built by one of the great archbishops of Bordeaux in the 1440s, Tour Pey-Berland was supposed to house the bells for St. Andre's cathedral to protect the building from vibrations. However, the bells never came. The tower ended up being used for housing and later was a shotgun pellet factory. In 1851, it was restored, and three bells that are controlled from the cathedral were installed. Today, you can tour the tower, visit its collection of bells, and take in the view of the city from the top of the tower. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Bordeaux holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Tour Pey-Berland and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Amazing view from the top of the tower! Good physical exercise thanks to the 233 steps to reach the top. Free entrance if you have Bordeaux City Pass. Highly recommended but keep in mind that online booking is required. Very friendly staff!!!
  • Ready to climb up the 233 steps of the helical stairs leading up to one of the most spectacular views on Bordeaux? This is the place to be!! For a small price you get to see the biggest bells in the belltower (one of 8 tons and heavier than the bells in the cathedral), the most beautiful views and history of this beautiful city on top of it. Really friendly welcoming!
  • If you're under 26, you can visit it for free! Amazing view of Bordeaux, but reaching the top may be quite exhausting because of all the steps!
  • Nice building from outside next to the cathedral, like a 'campanile' in Italy. Unfortunately they cancelled all the tours for the day we had reservation on, so we were a bit disappointed, but that will not decrease the beautiness of the tower.
  • Free entrance if you are under 25 years. Beautiful view on top! There are two viewing levels. Even though the tower is high, the climbing is ok, because the steps of the stairs are high.
