Carcassonne Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Michel de Carcassonne) is a cathedral and designated national monument in Carcassonne, France. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Carcassonne and Narbonne.

The building was built in the thirteenth century as a parish church, dedicated to Saint Michael. Following war damage in the fourteenth century it was rebuilt as a fortified church.

In 1803 St. Michael's was elevated to cathedral status, replacing the earlier cathedral dedicated to Saints Nazarius and Celsus, now the Basilica of St. Nazaire and St. Celse.

St. Michael's is used by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

    Love it, you need time to walk. It’s gorgeous, expect to tour the castle optional for a few and inside is a bunch of charming stores. Live it

    I highly recommend seeing the cathedral in the middle of carcassonon. It only takes a few minutes and is easily accessible with no cost. The architecture is amazing and is worth a visit. Come here to....  more

    We attended Sunday mass here and it was very solemn. I liked how the stained glass provided the church different light shades. Nice church for quiet contemplation and prayer.

    Impressive cathedral, with looming ambiance and sparkles of light shining through the stained glass. Only downside for the moment is the maintenance work around it, but once done the paths will be smooth and such.

    A beautiful cathedral. Sadly funds are probably limited and the building inside is showing signs of damp. Some of the wall art is peeling but its certainly worth a visit and if you need a quiet place to spend a few moments this is for you.
