A basilica minor and a national monument, Eglise Saint-Nazaire houses some of the most famous stained glass in the south of France. Historians believe the Visigoths built the original church on this site in the sixth century. The new cathedral was completed in the 12th century. The Gothic interior architecture and decorations include alternating round and square support pillars, the Saint-Pierre Vault, additional vaults with a Scandinavian influence, and the tomb of Bishop Radulphe. • A little but very pretty church, nice to see from both inside and outside. It reminded me a lot of the Notre Dame of Paris though it's a lot smaller. The very old stained glass windows are very nice and the pictures cannot capture the beauty. It is ideally located next to the end of the Comtal Castle tour and free to visit.
  • It is a Roman Catholic minor basilica located in the citadel of Carcassonne. Was built in 12th century in the Gothic-Romanesque architectural tradition. The main entrance in its north wall is formed by a Romanesque portal of five receding arches over two doors.
  • Gorgeous church interiors. I was fascinated by the details of the stained glass.
  • Beautiful from the inside. Quite and peaceful with amazing gothic architecture and big coloured glass which illuminates the chirch from the inside. You are expected to dress modestly and no animals are allowed inside.
  • I really enjoyed the cathedral, nice glass windows, pretty exterior... And free entrance :)
