  • So quiet. Hardly anyone there which made it very peaceful. Unfortunately the visitors centre was closed as it is following American not French guidance for COVID. Easy to get to and impressive.

  • While the monument is impressive, the visitor center/museum is the treasure on this stop. It provides excellent descriptions of what happened in this area during the Great War. Plan at least an hour.....  more

  • What an awesome monument! A fitting tribute to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Spectacular view & a nice little gallery inside. Well worth a visit.
  • Magnificent memorial to the men of the American Divisions who helped halt the last major German offensive on the Western Front during the Great War and then participated in a counter offensive alongside their French allies. The memorial is situated in an imposing position on Hill 204 overlooking and to the west of Chateau-Thierry. There is a small but interesting museum which is free to visit in the base of the monument on the right hand side as you look at the monument from the car park side.
  • Very moving. We arrived around 430. They close promptly at 5pm. Taps is played as they take down the 2 American flags that preside over the monument and grave site.
  • What a beautiful and poignant memorial to the American and French heroes who fell in the first world War near here. Be sure to visit the museum at the visitor centre.
  • Very impressive monument with museum to commemorate the soldiers who died in WW 1.
