  • Was very surprised how much there was to see, well worth the visit, please we went out of high season, not too many people.

  • The abbey of Cluny is beautiful and a must-see in Cluny. You could either take one of the different tours or go to a higher level in the city and enjoy the view on the abbey.

  • I enjoy places that are rich in history and architecture so this place was perfect. The abby is easy to get to but parking was a challenge. The staff was very friendly and spoke good english...

  • Going there was not super planned for us on our holidays. But it absolutely was worth it! The place is spectacular. Super big with nice explanations and visuals on how it looked once it was build. We were really in the atmosphere of medieval period !
  • Such a great museum for one of the most important and iconic places of the Middleages. Really kind lady at the ticket office/bookshop, sadly the ancient complex of Cluny doesn't almost exist anymore but the remains are nicely hosted here. A visit to remember!
  • This beautiful little town has a lot to offer if you're cruising through the back roads of Burgundy, and the Abbey is a spectacular way to spend the day if you enjoy history and ancient buildings. Besides the ruins and restorations, there are 3D films and models to dazzle you. Don't skimp on adding the Tour des Fromages toi your visit (spoiler alert - it's nothing to do with cheese). Don't be put off by the declaration of how many steps there are to climb, the view is worth it.
  • Independent and powerful. William the Pious founded the abbey in 910, placed directly under the protection of Rome. Its abbot enjoys the role of mediator between the political powers and the pope. Cluny will become the mother of another 1,400 annexed monasteries. Sold as state property in 1798, the abbey was dismantled and its church almost destroyed.
  • Absolutely incredible! Most memorable during our trip to this region! A must see for visitors!
