  • Definitely worth a visit to this site to see the bunkers. I think they do a tour some days. There is plenty of parking but no toilets on site as far as I'm aware. It took us about 50 mins to go round but we were in a hurry.
  • Superb. Although the bunkers were closed we managed to walk around the site . We will revisit later in the year
  • Super interesting Bunker Position with lots of access to the bunkers and some trenches. Signs explain some, not all of the buildings. You get a good view and impression of why this hill was an important defensive position. Access is free, as is parking.
  • A great site, fantastic museum as well! The scale of the site is quite considerable and it's very understated. I presume this is because it's not in close proximity to the beach. However it's really worth a visit as it's only been opened very recently and the site is just great.
  • Quite out of the way, and not as famous as Pointe Du Hoc, but vital to get an understanding of what happened on SWORD Beach ON D-day. This is a reasonably well preserved German Defensive position which had to be taken on the day, and took some time to subdue. You can see the great view it had over the landing areas and it could have caused real problems on the day. Not so well sign posted and involving a drive through small village roads, nicely presented and with some interpretive panels, this is a must for anyone seriously interested in the campaign and to understand why the British Units were not as successful in achieving all their objectives on the day (such as tge Town of Caen).
