Housed in the Château d'Écouen, National Museum of the Renaissance features the artwork of the Renaissance: paintings, sculpture, ceramics, tapestries, and more. Many of the pieces come from the collection of the Musée de Cluny. The château itself belongs to the category of Renaissance art, due to its origins. Art patron Anne de Montmorency commissioned the castle in the 16th century. An avid collector, he also invited several masters to decorate the house through frescoes and carvings, thus making a fitting home for all the Renaissance art that visitors can wander among today. • This imposing 16th century Chateau-Museum is well worth a visit if you are in the area. The place is huge and gives a good impression of a Renaissance Chateau and art. Fireplaces, paving stones, armour, tapestries, stained glass etc etc
  • Well kept and charming museum. The staff are polite and welcoming. Entrance is free for anyone 25 and under. There are several floors and rooms to see, so plan your trip accordingly if you like to take your time to view and read the information.
  • A lovely peaceful scenic place to visit. Full of interesting historical pieces.. A little gift shop. You can walk round the grounds take in the view. Just so relaxing after the hustle n bustle of Paris.
  • Fantastic museum to visit! If you're into history/art history this castle providers 3 stories of very interesting, well presented and well documented pieces. Staff is readily available and very nice. I made a daytrip out of Paris out of it - few hours in the museum, a very lovely cup of hot chocolate at the café in the Tourist center, a stroll in the park. The entrance fee is very reasonable too and most importantly - there's no crowds of people like in the musums in central Paris.
  • Hidden gem in picturesque suburban Paris village. Shame in my 2nd visit in 10 years many rooms were closed (on a Sunday!) and they threw us out much earlier than closing time.
