Gordes Castle, Gordes

A magical little town ouch the side of a mountain. The location gives it a great view and the town it self is old and beautiful. Small streets with lots of stairs and small shops. There’s a big parking lot if you just follow the signs when you drive by the big castle on the center of the town.

A beautiful French commune that is well worth a visit! It's perched on a hill with spectacular views of the valley below of the village and wine yards. A chateau to visit and an underground cave type thing where they used to store oil and food. Each entrance fee is around 5€ per person. lots of eateries around Gordes and cute shops to browse in.

Very interesting town, almost all the buildings are made of stones or flakes. The alleys that shuttle through it are high and low, winding, and there are constantly new surprises around the corner. We were supposed to stay for an hour, but the little surprises that kept popping up took us almost all the way around the city.

Beautiful town! Spent a lovely afternoon exploring. Lots of amazing restaurants and patisseries to chose from. I felt like a kid exploring all of the little passage ways but definitely glad I wore running shoes. There looks to be tone of beautiful hotels if staying the night but it's the perfect day trip from Aix-en-Provence coupled with a stop in Lourmarin on the way by car.

What a place. Recommended to us, we stopped off on the way from Toulon to Lyon and we are very glad we did. Beautifully set on a hillside, it's very James Bond! Unbelievably, there are many car parks and the town, whilst small, is lovely. Spectacular views. Lots of good restaurants, which can be pricey but very very good. Don't forget to grab an ice cream from the parlour.
