Create an itinerary including Village des Bories
Visit Village des Bories for a close-up look at the ruins of a small hamlet from Napoleonic times. Wander through this open-air museum to examine about 20 dry stone huts that were used primarily for agricultural reasons. Some of them comprised part of a Gordoise nave--a multipurpose area used as a seasonal dwelling, a tool shed, or even a sheep shelter. • We spotted the sign for this place and then looked up what it is. Really interesting part of French history which I knew nothing about (creation of a peasant class), with links made to similar...

  • Its ok and worth to go if you around and if you interested by history of course. You can get very close with the car or park and make all the way down by walk.

  • Following a nerve-wracking drive down impossibly narrow roads (and thinking you must have missed a turning), you end up at this fascinating site. A very number of very rare dry stone building exist...

  • Careful: the road to the village is extremely narrow, making it almost impossible at times to meet oncoming traffic! For a while, traffic was completely blocked when we visited (at what turned out to be a peak time.) The village itself is totally worth the visit though - it's fascinating to walk around and have a peek in the different houses, stables, workshops... and get a sense of the history of the place. It's fairly small so take your time and just enjoy the atmosphere. I only wish the road there was better suited for traffic and the receptionists were nicer (they seemed very much over tourists).
  • This was a fascinating place to visit. A small reconstructed village including homes, threshing floors, a wine cellar and other buildings from years gone by. Not far from Gordes, this is not to be missed!
  • Small but worth a visit. Nothing to make you go “wow” but worth seeing these stone dwellings because they look interesting. They’ve existed in some form since prehistoric times. We spent 30 mins here. There’s a short video with English subtitles to explain things.
  • I give this place five stars because I've never seen anything like it. It is so surreal to be walking around in what was someone's home millenia ago. A little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. More than I expected!
  • Wonderful place to visit. Amazing building & a real step back into recent history. There's also a great place for the kids to have a go building their own hut at the rear of the last house. Really suggest you take a walk around the little paths outside in the carpark too to see more. Would be great if the centre advertised & way marked these. Dog friendly too
