Champagne Fernand Lemaire, Hautvillers

Really amazing family owned champagne house, we had a great time drinking and learning about how they process their champagne from start to finish. The quality of their champagne was amazing and we couldn't help but pick up some bottles :) Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Amazing champagne, amazing family running the business and best education we have had on the production of champagne. Best part of our visit to the Champagne region.

We went to Champagne from Paris on a self-guided day trip. After we visited the Ave de Champagne in Epernay, we took a taxi to Hautvillers to see the vineyards. As we were walking around, we stopped by the house of Champagne Fernand Lemarie, which was a small quaint house with huge hospitality and genuine love and passion for their work! When we popped in, we had a 3-glass tasting which was very affordable (6 euros for 3 samples, if I recall correctly). The champagne was delicious! What made the experience even more amazing was the warm hospitality of the son (this is a 4th generation family business). We visited (unknowingly) on the last day of harvest and were invited to see the champagne making process which was very special! I purchased a bottle of champagne to take back to friends to share the story of this family, their craft, and their enthusiasm for welcoming us into their world. Merci!

Very lovely champagne house to visit. We went there spontaneously and we loved the house and the champagnes. Because of the harvesting season we were able to taste some freshly pressed grape juice from the winepress. After the tasting the champagne owner was so kind to deliver the boxes of wine to our AirBnb in Hautevillers. Highly recommend!
