Be prepared for a surrealist walk into Satie’s music and wit at Satie House and Museum (Maisons Satie). The composer Erik Satie was born in this house in Honfleur in 1866. His life is told over free audio phones from room to room, with many anecdotes and music samples. You’ll even see his “ghost” playing his music on a white piano. • This was the worst museum I have been. No information or items about Satie at all. Full of strange 'art' Wich has nothing to do with Satie and there is no reason at all to visit! Better of reading...

  • Interactive exhibition design brings incredibly fun, yet not convincing in elaborating the theme, connection between music and emotions. Nevertheless, it's Satie, it's music, it's beautiful.
  • Maisons Satie was a great place. Enchanting, and a little absurd, we felt like we experienced the world of Satie in his own home in Hanfleur. My only remark would be that there is no introduction to Satie and his musical background, my friend did not know him and I had to explain the musical time, his ideas (musique d'ameublement) and who were his "successors" what were figured in the museum (le groupe des six). I don't think I learnt many things either which was a shame. All in all: a great experience, but not really a museum per say!
  • Nice museum where you can really feel the spirit of Erik Satie. Weird feeling to be in the room where such great music was born.
  • Read all one star reviews, there is nothing to add. O yes there is, they are actively trying to moderate reviews on TripAdvisor, that says it all. DONT GO THERE!!
  • Charming interactive rooms dedicated to Sati. Narration tends to jump around so cover the end of the audioguide once it has started at a station.
