Musee de la Mine, La Machine

Excellent museum to visit with children to experience the life of a miner. You can actually go down into a real mine together with a guide. Its a bit awkward for tall people but its well worth it. We were expecting the mine to be a bit cooler than outside but it's not, so you'd better go there on a cool day.

Interesting site, also with kids, although mostly French guides. Don't be scared by the bats :)

Really interesting place, very nice your guides. It is accessible for those of all languages as it has a very good translation device that you can get for €1 extra. Would recommend!

What a wonderful idea these former miners had to create this museum. First of all the welcome is very friendly, then the complete visit takes place in two phases at your choice guided tour of the mine (in groups of a dozen people) and visit of the museum. Personally, I recommend the mine and then the museum because it puts into perspective what we saw in the mine shaft. The guide was really friendly and the demonstrations of period tools, the heat and the bat friends made this visit to the mine very realistic, especially with the helmets and the individual lamps.... I highly recommend this visit, which is also modestly priced. In addition, it is not prohibited for minors 😉 Thought for my father and my uncle, former miners in these wells (pit des minimes). Well done again!.
