Cave de Labastide, Labastide-de-Levis

Really interesting self guided tour with a tablet cost 3€, but you get that back if you spend 25€ in the boutique. The dégustation was conducted by a very nice young lady with plenty of choice of wines. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon except for the poor driver!

We did the self guided tour, where you are given a small booklet and walk around the premises. There is no vineyard to walk around as the winery is part of a cooperative which takes grapes from surrounding vineyards. There is a small garden which grows examples of the vines you should find locally though. The tour includes a video presentation which is in French. In fact most of the material (video and plaques) are in French, but the booklet gives you the jist. We ended the tour with a tasting, and the girl running this spoke very good English and was very helpful. There was a very interesting line up of wines, and you were able to select which ones you wanted to taste. We bought about 10 bottles in the end. The tour/tasting is around €3 which is a bargain.

It is possible to take a 1,5-hour tour in the vineyard, but last visit is at 15:30. At least we could see the virtual/ synergistic tour at the cave, with surrounding sounds and oak scent...

We took the guided tour, 6€ per person is the right price. Too bad not to accept holiday vouchers. Very warm welcome, the visit is a little soft, the videos broadcast are beautiful but have no beginning or end, the video room is superb, congratulations for that. The visit to the bottling chain is in my opinion not necessary, it is not what we wanted to see. However, it is well done and it is educational. Mention for the last spot with the little sound and light show in the cellar. Very nice pictures. Some good information from our guide who seems passionate about her work and the place where she works. The tasting is in the image of Occitania: GENEROUS! We left with 14 bottles. Good sales strategy, nice place, quality staff. The wines are qualitative.
