After riding the small train into the Grottes de Lacave, continue your tour of the caves through Tarasque Hall, where rock formations evoke legendary animals. After crossing the Room of the Three Fates and the Snow Room, you'll see the immense stone called Our Lady of Lacave. When you reach the Hall of the Great Dome, the lakes become more numerous and the formations become more curious: A column looks like the legs of spiders, for example. The Mirage room offers the breathtaking spectacle of a mysterious underwater city. The greatest treasure of all is the Wonderland room, lit by dramatic black lights that animate it to appear like a living being. Put Grottes de Lacave on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Lacave trip itinerary planner.

Waited 35 minutes outside in 90+ degree weather until we boarded a gruesome little train with no windows.... packed in like sardines. After a short ride we walked to a long, long set of stairs...

Beautiful cave which has been discovered by accident in 1902. You'll take a small train for about 400 meters and then the stairs or elevator to arrive in the main hall. It's always a guided tour (in French, but guides can answer questions in English as well) which takes about one and a half hour in total. You'll have to stay with the group and the schedule is tight, so you don't always have a lot of time to admire the natural phenomena of the cave. You can book tickets in advance via their website, but you still have to get your actual tickets at the desk.

So nice on a hot day. If you book tickets in advance you can skip a large amount of the queue. Just head for the wooden gate with your ticket numbers. Worth ensuring you get your printed English notes for the tour as the app doesn't work!

Absolutely stunning! The concretions are out of this world, the guided tour is very detailed and the little train journey fun and exciting. Highly recommended!!!

Went on a quiet Tuesday and were the only ones on the tour, our guide was excellent, unfortunately my French is very poor but he explained as much as he could in English which was appreciated
-
The caves themselves were beautiful and especially one cave that was uplighted with ultraviolet light was spectacular. Our guide only spoke french and very fast. Even though we asked her to speak slowly. We were given a leaflet with a written guide in english so we could read about the caves. But it is very dark so a bit difficult to read. I think it is a little too pricey when you dont have the full experience or understand the guide.
