Built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, Petit Palais now houses the City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts in its two large exhibition halls. The galleries each have a theme: one depicts old Paris and the other symbolizes 20th-century Paris. The ceilings of the two pavilions are ornately painted to reflect the intellectual currents of the time, and many floors were painstakingly covered with marble mosaics by the Italian artist Facchina. The palace is beautiful and entry is free.I went with my sister to have a lovely cup of tea by the gardens but it was extremely packed and it took a few minutes before we got a sitting spot outside...

Really lovely building with a variety of art works. Good if you're on a short break and haven't got time for Louvre etc. Good cafe and courtyard garden.

One of the best museums in city. Only few tourists know about the place and it makes it so much better! Also, entrance to permanent exhibition is free, and collection is beautiful! The palace itself is also awesome, it has beautiful garden inside and is located in great place. This will be one of my favorite museums in Paris.

Nice museum. I like the fact that it's free. They had quite a few varying artwork. There were paintings, sculpture, tapestry, and various artifacts. The area of the museum is very spacious, so there's room to maneuver. They do require that all backpacks are worn in the front to avoid them knocking over anything mistakenly. The artworks are spectacular, especially the ones depicting the crucifixion of Christ. Everything is very ornate, including the ceiling. A few of the pieces have English translations, so I was able to understand what each of those pieces were about. Not very crowded, which made it easy to move about. Great experience overall. Would definitely recommend

Very nice and diverse artwork from paintings to sculptures and even some jewelry and homemade utensils collections. The museum is very spacious, you can have chairs wherever you go, so you can chill or paint. I would highly recommend it, the entry is free and not crowded. So, it’s just perfect for those who like the combination of art, quiet time and spacious places.

Beautiful place. Free to enter to access permanent expositions. Temporary exposition require a ticket. While I didn't go to any of them, it is often recommended to buy those tickets in advance. It take a while to view everything but it is well worth it. There is also a beautiful little garden in the middle and a cafe where you can eat lunch or have a coffee and a pastry.

Such a nice surprise! It was on my must see list and I’m glad I did not miss it. General admission is free, but I would not hesitate to visit even if there was a fee. I would have loved an audio guide to learn more about the building, mosaics, murals and sculptures. Nice inside garden, enjoyed a drink from the cafe there.
