Housed in the Château la Gordonne, Champagnes Pommery has unique architecture with a stairwell going down 116 steps to the maze of caves. Since 1976, their mission has been to respect biodiversity and ecological practices by cultivating their wines in a sustainable manner. They even graze 2,000 sheep in the vineyards every winter to create organic manure of the highest quality.

It's important to highlight that Pommery is only made at Château la Gordonne, but the company owns two other château properties with vineyards that they use to make other brands of wine. There are two brands produced at this site: Vranken and Pommery, which are both branded under the Vranken-Pommery Monopole company.

Cuvée Lyesse is their vintage variety champagne for Pommery, while Demoiselle is the "above years" variety for Vranken. Pommery is best known for its Brut Royal, Brut Grand Cru Millésimé, and it's vintage Champagne Cuvée Lyesse. The cellars are open for you to visit. Try a wine tasting of shop at the boutique. Reservations are required. Use our Reims day trip planning site to add Champagnes Pommery and other attractions to your Reims vacation plans.

  • Unless you reserve a guided tour in advance, you probably will be stuck doing the self-guided tour with the downloaded application. Once downloaded it’s fairly easy to use. Unlike others here, I found the art exhibit and lights distracting. I was more interested in the technical and historical details which I found out later were provided in the available literature. In the end, the Champagne was excellent and really what I came here for. Likely others won’t mind the art or lights.
  • Visiting this wine cellar is one of the best experiences in my life. It’s a wonderful idea to let the customers not only see the cellars but also entertain themselves by placing a contemporary art exhibition inside. Champagne itself is fantastic! Very impressive. Book online in advance .
  • Absolutely worth to visit the cellar to learn the champagne history in Reims or France. The cellar spent much effort to establish a museum of champagne. Don’t miss this valuable tour. At the end of tour, 2 glasses of champagne are waiting for you to taste!
  • Huge champagne maker & cave. Free entry if you don't do the tour. Tasting is 15 euros a glass which is way too over priced. You expect to try various different wines or champagnes at affordable price at winery and take home bottles you like. I didn't even bother trying a glass since it felt like a rip off. I had so much better experiences from small family owned caves. This place is more like a gallery than a winery, they did pretty well to decorate their cave like a gallery but hope they go back to basics focusing on champagne. I wouldn't waste your money and time here and visit other caves if you can.
  • When you first walk up to this winery it seems a little bizarre and tacky, but there’s actually a lot to it! They don’t do a flight for tasting, but you can get one glass for 15 euro. Walked around the large room and read about the history. GO THROUGH THE CELLAR DOORS. This is where the real magic was. There was no signage inviting you in, so we were confused if we could go through at all. But I’m glad we did because the cellars go deep and there are so many rooms. They made everything into an art installation. Amazing!
