Ackerman sparkling wines are a labor of love dating back to the 19th century, when Jean-Baptiste Ackerman explored the Loire Valley in hopes of discovering the secret of champagne. Using family money Ackerman bought some of the best aging galleries. You will tour these impressive tuffeau limestone galleries, where the Ackerman labels are aging and taste the crisp, fruity wine that instantly made the Flemish wine lover a well-known, if not French, name. • A very enjoyable and fascinating tour of this old sparkling wine producer - as famous as Champagne in its day and equally as good - the caves are very impressive, the clever French static displays...

  • The tour was interesting but not amazing. We felt it could have had better lighting would have been good to see some of the machine’s in action. The wine tasting was very good and the wine is...

  • If you enjoy sparkling wine then this is for you. You have the opportunity to visit the caves, then do a wine tasting before buying the wine. Excellent

  • Self-guided tours in the cave. Good explication of the production process of sparkling wine with some ancient machines. One star less for extremely chaotic tasting experience- there was way too many people and too little staff. It took us over an hour to taste few beverages. No blame on the person attending us - she was trying to do her best (while being nice to us at the same time) but the crowd was just was too big. Next time we will go for a less commercially oriented site.
  • We have done several wine tours in many countries, so you always end up hearing the same things with just a bit of local history thrown in. We choose to go here as it was self guided, so you can move around at your own pace and avoid the tedious bits. Dogs are allowed, which also helped us choose to go here. There was a huge added bonus that there were art installations offering something different, and traditional games to play. I wasn't too bothered by the wines at the end as I don't like fizz, but was well worth €5.
  • Very good tour of the caves, explaining the traditional way of wine making. Also, there's some very interesting artwork in the caves. Very nice wine available to buy.
  • Admittance fee reasonable. Wandered around be ourselves. Information available in French and English. Various art and lighting displays. Test your sense of smell and ability in the old games
  • So fun! Wine caves built into a former stone mine where you can learn about the history of this winery and walk through the extensive caves where they have put in several art installations. Also wine tasting at the end!
