Chateau de Saumur, Saumur

Whilst we didn't actually enter the Chateaux itself as we had come to visit Saumur and the surrounding area. There is absolutely no doubt it creates a stunning backdrop to the town itself and the architecture of the building is simply breath-taking. The town is certainly worth a visit but park across the river as its free and ample parking and enjoy the short walk across the bridge. Lots of little streets to explore with lovely gift shops, taverns and restaurants. I would if you have more time definitely make a visit to the Chateaux but having already visited several others this was a short visit.

Beautiful chateau with stunning views of Saumur. The 8 euro entrance fee per person is good value and allows you to look round several floors of the chateau and the many exhibits.

Excellent support staff. Limited internal decorations; however a very helpful guide provided a detailed explanation of each room bringing the history alive. An outstanding collection of porcelain. Great views of the city and the cafe is worth a visit to recharge.

Beautiful vistas over the town from the Château. We went mid week in low season February-no crowds, no waiting

Magnificent splendour! Just enormous and so beautiful. SAUMUR is a stunning town with this incredible sight.
