  • Parts of the museum were interesting, but mostly it is of poor quality. It is definitely not worth a special trip to visit. If you’re driving by and have an hour to spare, great. If not, skip it.

  • A short visit but enjoyable to see all of the different types available. It took us about an hour to walk around and see everything. There are a great variety to see and all growing at different sizes and stages. Entry can be bought with two other places to reduce the price however for us as there was no other time, the single ticket was enough. At the end of the tour there is the option to try 2/3 samples as per the final images. Thanks. Enjoy. 🤙
  • Well worth the visit. I had absolutely no idea there were so many types. It was really fascinating. We used the visit to also enjoy the cool temperatures underground whilst outside it reached 41°C!!!!!
  • Interesting to look round but pricy at 9 euros each as it's a short tour and fairly repetitive. You can purchase fresh mushrooms and gifts but you are very limited to what you can taste.
  • Perfect place to go to learn about mushrooms, and get out of the heat. Set in a series of caves by the Loire close to Saumur, the museum meanders underground showing a multitude of different fungi set in resin blocks before getting to the actual mushroom farm where they cultivate a few different varieties. Being underground, its a constant 12° in there, so even in the height of French summer, take a jumper as it's proper cold, particularly in contrast to the outside. There are a few ammonites and nautilus fossils scattered around the place too.
  • A place to be when it’s above 30 degree Celsius outside. For the theme (mushrooms) and naturally beautiful location (troglodyte) I find it pity that the contents inside the museum are not as rich as expected nor organized in a way that’s easy to digest. There are a lot of empty spaces inside that were not fully utilized. Just to see the mushrooms and experience the troglodyte it’s fine but don’t expect to be wowed by it.
