Filitosa is a megalithic site from the end of the Neolithic era and the beginning of the Bronze Age until around Roman times. Arrowheads and pottery date back to the earliest inhabitants of 3300 BCE. The 2-3 m (6-10 ft) menhirs (standing stones) date back to 1500 BCE and are carved with the likeliness of human faces, armor, and weapons. A trek through an ancient olive grove brings you to a rock overhang with a surrounding wall. There you'll see the central monument with hut platforms, and further down the trail, you'll reach the Western Monument or torri. Downhill from there, you can see the five megaliths circling a 2,000-year-old olive tree. Don't miss this!! I sadly arrived too late to see the museum but the site itself was still well worth the entrance fee. Thoroughly recommend, especially if you are interested in history.

Top experience. Wonderful family business. The site is a bit expensive but understandable as the site is maintained by the family and not the government. I would come back anytime.
