Create an itinerary including Chapelle du Rosaire
A masterpiece designed by Henri Matisse, Chapelle du Rosaire is a monument of sacred art. The then-crippled artist designed the L-shaped church at the request of his former nurse, who had become a Dominican nun. Take time to examine the artist's various works and favorite objects, including stained glass, murals, stations of the cross, ceramics, objects of worship, and vestments. The structure is unassuming from the front--until you notice the 12 m (39 ft) crescent-adorned cross rising from the white and blue tiled roof. Stop in the gallery to learn about the chapel's design and construction from 1949 to 1951. • I was expecting more. In fact, this more is coming from the small museum , not from the chapel. Take the time to read. Beautiful view from the garden beside.

  • Beautiful yet simple chapel, designed by Matisse and others. The exhibit does a good job in explaining the genesis of the project and the chapel itself is worth a visit

  • Nice chapel to visit. The best part was that one can see the original work of saint Matisse, also they described the history of the chapel beautifully. Very nice concept of Saint Matisse of simplifying the pictures and art forms. But it was expensive: 7 euros per person and it was close when we went so we need to wait from 1-2 pm for it to open.
  • Incredible place to catch the sunset in the garden after checking out Matisse’s modern masterpiece. Go for lunch or dinner at La Colombe and a glass of wine or cocktail later at Le Ring!
  • Lovely little chapel designed by Matisse, very nice introduction provided before you enter as well as different drafts of his vision for the wall paintings and stained glass. Tranquil outdoor space overlooking a gorgeous valley, and fun upstairs display of Matisse-designed priest robes in bright colours for different religious events. Very glad to have seen it before walking from Vance to Saint Paul du Vance village. For Matisse fans, it's a must!
  • Well worth a visit. The art is stunning in this fantastic setting. We spend a wonderful two hours here exploring every aspect of the museum and chapel. You can attend services here. Check the website for details. Parking can be difficult.
  • Simple and beautiful as his understanding of religion. The cross with the crescents on the rooftop is quite unusual combining the symbols of Christianity and Islam. As if he wanted to tell us that there is one God, one Creation. I love the message.
