The Château de Tournoël is a medieval fortified castle partly in ruins in the commune of Volvic, in the Puy-de-Dôme département of France. The castle is located on a rocky mountain spur at an altitude of 594 m in the foothills of the Puy de la Bannière which dominates the Limagne plains (about 350 m altitude above the level of Riom).

The Château de Tournoël is privately owned and has been listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture since 1889.

I visited this small castle and had an enjoyable hour. I arrived about 10.45am and the tour was about 30-40minutes later. You have to take the tour to visit the castle. The tower is open 10.30...

It's open to the public in July and August. It's a starting point for some nice walks in the area - parking can become full pretty quickly during weekends and summer months. There is an Auberge that serves food and drinks; its terrace is rather inviting.

Amazing view, pretty château. You have to take a guided tour which is 8 euros for adults and 3 for children or students.
