TOPDIVE Rangiroa, Avatoru

The best dive center for diving with dolphins. The dive guides are nice and the staffs are friendly. There are different dive sites for meeting dolphins and sharks. The current dive is challenging. Try everything if you are ready to dive!

For the first time in my diving career, 20+ years, we did not return for our final day of diving with TopDive Rangiroa. My husband and I felt uncomfortable from the first moment we arrived to the dive center, and then unsafe on all the following dives. We expressed our concerns to the staff and let them know we wouldn’t be returning due to safety concerns, to which we have been berated ever since. Diving in Rangiroa is incredible, pending the currents though they are typically advanced dives. If you’re planning a trip here please find a reputable dive center/charter that prioritizes its divers and their safety over making a $. TopDive is not that center.

The worst diving experience I have ever had. The very first briefing we were told decompression stops were common practice for open water recreational divers in rangiroa. This is not up to international standards or common practice anywhere I have been diving. Just because “your computer tells you where to stop and for how long” does not make an open water diver trained for technical/planned decompression dives. I’ve never felt unsafe to complete a dive before, but after completing 6 of 8 dives, we chose to not dive our last day based on how unsafe their operation is. We felt legitimate fear for our lives, and their shop does not and will not care for yours. I highly recommend diving with another operation.

My friends and I did 4 days of diving with Topdive, Rangiroa and our guide was Mao. Incredible experience, a lot of it to the credit of our Divemaster/guide who knows the current very well when we did the drift dives. We had several unexpected encounters with Tiger Shark and Great Hammerhead Sharks. But Mao did his magic on the dives with Dolphins, seems like the Dolphins have a 'relationship' with him, giving us incredible close-up encounters.

Well-run club with nice premises, boats, and equipment. Special mention to Belen (admin) and Yannick (diving instructor), who were both professional and genuinely kind. The lagoon dive is already great, the ocean dive is out of this world. Simply spectacular. One of the highlights of our trip to French Polynesia.
