    We saw the church while on our boat tour around Moorea. It is beautiful with two twin towers, which made it easily recognizable from the boat. Nothing spectacular, but beautiful architecture.

    Because i have seen this place since more than 40 years and it always had a feeling to it.This is Painting i made in 87 on the spot.

    In 1871 the first Catholic mission was established in the Varari area of ​​Moorea. But it was not until 1897 that this parish church was built with the help of skilled craftsmen from the Rapanui aborigines. The model for this building was the Saint Michel church on Mangareva, the largest island in the Gambier archipelago. The picturesque church building in its romantic setting has always been a popular subject for painters and photographers.
